In a not too surprising move, Paramount has shut down the planned "Friday The 13th" reboot. Set for an October 13th 2017 release date, the reboot would have attempted to revitalize the Voorhees franchise. A mere weeks before production was set to begin, director Breck Eisner was set to direct a script from "Prisoners" scribe Aaron Guzikowski. Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes was back to produce. "RINGS" poor box office performance is rumored to have sparked this latest purge of Paramount's horror schedule. In related news, Brad Pitt's sequel to World War Z has been pushed back from it's June 2017 release date as well to an unannounced date. Horror's return to R rated glory was gradually returning to the theaters lately with some big, critical and box office hits. Hopefully "RINGS" does not have a ripple effect and shuts down that momentum. The solution is quite simple, Paramount. Make quality films and you will sell tickets (just take a look at "Split" cough cough). Hopefully Jason Voorhees will rise from the grave once again and land at another studio.
