A diverse slate of documentaries is in contention for Documentary Oscar nomination this year.  Early in this Oscar season the two movies that have been getting the most attention are the O.J. Simpson doc “O.J.: Made in America” and “I Am Not Your Negro” about race relations in America.  Also on the list are the Netflix documentary “13th” directed by Ava DuVernay, the Sundance hit “Weiner”, and the Milwaukee Film Festival’s opening night movie “Life, Animated”.

What 5 do you think will ultimately get the nomination?
What movies are missing? (personally I wish “Tickled” made the list)

What movie had the best special effects this year?  Well the Oscars released the 20 that are being considered.  The list will be narrowed down to 10 then 5 will be nominated.
So what 5 will be nominated?  This category is always an interesting one as it usually encompasses prestige movies that get nominated for Best Picture with the run of the mill action films.  This year Arrival seems to be the one that can land a nomination in visual effects as well as Best Picture.  Sully could do the same but haven’t heard much about the effects in that one.
Doctor Strange and The Jungle Book are two of the most talked about effects movies of the year and feel confident they will get a nomination.  As of now it feels like The Jungle Book is the clear favorite for the win.

What others ones do you think will be nominated?  What is missing from this list?
