Scream Factory to bring "The Babadook" home

Scream Factory will bring the surprise horror thriller "The Babadook" to home video April 14th.
Not only is it coming to DVD and Blu Ray but, it also comes with some hefty extras.

We are BEYOND excited to report that Scream Factory and IFC Midnight have joined forces to bring the internationally-acclaimed (and hotly discussed) thriller THE BABADOOK to DVD, Blu-ray and a Special Edition Blu-ray on April 14th!

Karl Urban to replace Michael C. Hall in "Pete's Dragon" remake

The Wrap is reporting that Star Trek's Karl Urban is joining the ensemble cast for the remake of "Pete's Dragon", replacing Michael C. Hall. Director David Lowery is directing for Walt Disney Productions. The cast also includes Robert Redford, Bryce Dallas Howard and Wes Bentley. Production is aiming for an August 12th, 2016 release.

"Jupiter Ascending" Prompts walkouts at Sundance

“I hated it,” said one of the festival’s volunteers, who asked not to be identified for fear of irking Sundance. “It’s just ridiculous.”


That sentiment was shared among many of the invite only audience at the famous film festival. The screening was a surprise to festival goers.  Critics were not invited to the $175 Warner Brothers gamble.

Does this spell doom for the Wachowski sibling’s sci fi thriller?

Ghostbusters reboot cast all but confirmed.

Paul Feig is Tweeting and Variety is reporting, Ghostbusters all but has its cast confirmed.
Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones join Melissa McCarthy in this long in development reboot.
Nagging rumors also persist Bill Murray is close to signing on as well.

UPDATE: Paul Feig let slip the release date, July 22nd 2016
                 Peter Dinklage is also in talks to play the film's villain.
                 Those Bill Murray rumors are also getting hotter.

UPDATE #2 Potential plot spoilers via Dread Central

Kristen Wiig is playing Erin Garber, a published author on the subject of the paranormal. Erin now works for Columbia University.

Leslie Jones is playing Abby Bergman, who co-authored the book with Garber. Since publication, the two former colleagues had a falling out and went their separate ways. Abby more actively chases ghost a la Ghost Hunters. This tension between academic investigation (Wiig’s character) and mainstream media investigation (Jones’ character) is central to the story.

Kate McKinnon is playing Abby Berman’s new partner, Jillian.

Melissa McCarthy is playing Patty, an NYC subway worker who stumbles across the main supernatural threat in the film.

Paramount shuffles future horror releases.

Paramount has decided to shuffle some horror movie dates.
The studio has pushed the upcoming Friday the 13th film from it's original November 13th 2015 date to May 13th 2016 (Friday no less)
Also in the shuffle is the long gestating Paranormal Activity - Ghost Dimension, which moved from March 13th to October 23rd of this year. This new installment in the Friday The 13th franchise is also the 13th installment.

Collider has given us the first look at the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot.  Written by Simon Kinberg and directed by Josh Trank, Fantastic Four is set to hit theaters August 7th, 2015.

Michael B. Jordon (above) stars as Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch alongside Jamie Bell, Kate Mara, Miles Teller and Toby Kebbell in this origin story about the super powered quartet.

Gareth Edwards' Star Wars spinoff finds a new writer.

Chris Weitz has been brought in to replace Gary Whitta to write director Gareth Edwards Star Wars spin off. Weitz is known for drierecting American Pie, Twilight New Moon and writing the upcoming live action Cinderella from Disney.

The spin off which is rumored to feature bounty hunters including Boba Fett is scheduled to blast it's way to theaters December 16th, 2016.
