The two final awards before the Oscars are the Independent Spirit Awards and the Razzies. The awards are completely different.
The Independent Spirit Awards were started to honor independent films and filmmakers. As indie studios have grown the line between indie and a studio movie has been blurred. The perfect example is this years big winner Spotlight. With big stars and wide release it felt like a major studio film. Spotlight won Best Picture, director, screenplay, and ensemble. And is up for some of the same awards at the Oscars.
Other winners include Beasts of No Nation winning Best Actor (Abraham Attah ) and Best Supporting Actor (Idris Elba)and transgender actress Mya Taylor won for Best Supporting Actress for Tangerine.

The Razzies are the complete opposite and are meant to dishonor the the worst films of the last year. The big winner (loser?) this year was 50 Shades of Grey. It won worst Film (ties with Fantastic Four) worst actor, worst actress, and worst screenplay. It lost worst director to Josh Trank for Fantastic Four.
