We are getting close to the Oscars and one of the last guilds to announce their awards might be the least informative for Oscar night. The Writers Guild has such strict standards on who can qualify for their awards that it often times deems ineligible scripts that will go on to win the Oscar. For example last years Oscar winning script for 12 Years a Slave was not eligible for the WGA.
This year Birdman was not eligible and WGA has Whiplash in the Original Screenplay category while the Oscars for some reason has it in the Adapted category. Both The Grand Budapest Hotel and Boyhood are nominated for Original Screenplay. But without Birdman in the category it is hard to tell what implication this will have.
Winner of the Best Adapted Screenplay is The Imitation Game
Winner of the Best Original Screenplay is The Grand Budapest Hotel
