Currently Cumberbatch is getting lots of Oscar talk for his role in The Imitation Game.
After lots of rumors it is official. Benedict Cumberbatch will be Dr. Strange in the Marvel movie. Previously rumored Joaquin Phoenix passed on it and Josh Brolin, Jared Leto, and Tom Hardy were also rumored (oddly enough Jared Leto and Tom Hardy will be working together on DC Comic's The Suicide Squad). Cumberbatch was rumored to be high on Marvel's list and now he has officially signed a deal.

When they first announced a new Terminator movie I just rolled my eyes. Then they announced the name "Terminator: Genisys" and it seemed silly to misspell genesis. Now we have the first trailer and it makes no sense. I get they didn't want to give too much of the plot away but I feel what they did just confused everything. The one thing about time travel movies is that you can easily reboot the franchise while at the same time acknowledging the originals. Both Star Trek and X-Men did that and now it appears that Terminator will be doing the same thing. Tell us what your thoughts are. The live action retelling of "Cinderella" hits Theatres on March 13 2015. If you weren't excited before maybe you will be now.
The team that brought you Frozen will be back with an all new story and song in the Short "Frozen Fever" Here is the synopsis. "In Frozen Fever, it's Anna's birthday and Elsa and Kristoff are determined to give her the best celebration ever, but Elsa's icy powers may put more than just the party at risk." And just when you thought we were getting an idea what the front runners were going to be at this year the National Board of Review shakes things up. How much of a shakeup is to be determined. But by choosing A Most Violent Year it catapults it into likely nomination. Only 1 film in the last 8 years won Best Film at the NBR and wasn’t nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars and that was Quills in 2000. Another surprising choice was Clint Eastwood getting Best Director for American Sniper. That is one that seemed to be off the radar and relegated to good not great status. And I bet no one saw The Lego Movie getting Best Screenplay, but still losing Best Animated Feature.
Two movies that were shut out were Foxcatcher which has been in Oscar talk all year and Selma which has recently been getting lots of buzz (Selma did get a special recognition award but not the same as being listed in the Top 10). Another movie not listed that could hurt its chances at an Oscar nomination is Interstellar. Tell us your thoughts. Full list below The cast of the Suicide Squad movie has been announced and rumors were true it will have Jared Leto and Will Smith. Newest Rumors are that they want Oprah Winfrey to play Amanda Waller. I have to admit it would be odd to see Oprah in a super hero movie.
I know very little about the Suicide Squad story so mostly have no opinion on casting choices. But I think Jared Leto would make a good Joker and it will be good to see Will Smith make a really good action movie again. Jared Leto is The Joker Will Smith is Deadshot, Tom Hardy is Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie is Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney is Boomerang, Cara Delevinge is Enchantress David Ayer (Fury) will direct. The Academy narrowed down the list of movies eligible for Best Feature Documentary to 15. A few Milwaukee Film Festival alums are on this list. But CitizenFour probably the frontrunner at this point.
“Art and Craft,” Purple Parrot Films “The Case against 8,” Day in Court “Citizen Koch,” Elsewhere Films “CitizenFour,” Praxis Films “Finding Vivian Maier,” Ravine Pictures “The Internet’s Own Boy,” Luminant Media “Jodorowsky’s Dune,” City Film “Keep On Keepin’ On,” Absolute Clay Productions “The Kill Team,” f/8 filmworks “Last Days in Vietnam,” Moxie Firecracker Films “Life Itself,” Kartemquin Films and Film Rites “The Overnighters,” Mile End Films West “The Salt of the Earth,” Decia Films “Tales of the Grim Sleeper,” Lafayette Film “Virunga,” Grain Media First the New York Film Critic Circle Awards, then The Gotham Awards, and now the National Board of Review announced their awards. Must be Oscar season.
The full list of The New York Film Critic Circle Award. Hard to say what this means for Oscar season since there were a lot of surprises but sometimes the folks in New York like to do things differently. But it looks like Boyhood will be a major contender this year.
